Houru, Siikalatva
A few hectares of open water will be created in the Houru area in Siikalatva to provide breeding habitat for waterfowl, reduce carbon emissions and reduce the load of solids in downstream water bodies caused by flood peaks and meltwater.

The Hourunsuo peat production area in Siikalatva is a decommissioned peat production area. As part of the Finnish Game Management Foundation’s JTF-funded POPKA project, part of the swamp will be restored on a property owned by the OP Forest Owners’ Fund.
TeMePa Infra Oy is responsible for the restoration plans for the Houru, and the Finnish Game Management Foundation will coordinate the engineering work. The project will be carried out mainly with JTF funding.
