Lamminneva, Pyhäntä

The former peat production area of Lamminneva in Pyhäntä is transformed into a vibrant wetland! The project promotes the reduction of carbon emissions, waterfowl habitats and water protection and is supported by the ELY Centre of North Ostrobothnia.

The landowners of the former Lamminneva peat production area in Pyhäntä include United Bankers Forest Fund and Turveruukki Oy. As part of its JTF-funded POPKA project, the Finnish Game Management Foundation will restore the northern part of Lamminneva, creating approx. 12 hectares of open water with nesting islands. The area will be restored to reduce carbon emissions, restore waterfowl habitats and for water conservation reasons. TeMePa Infra oy is responsible for the restoration plans, Kone-Mik Oy for the machinery, and the Finnish Game Management Foundation for the coordination of the restoration. The project is mainly financed by the JTF funding of the ELY Centre of North Ostrobothnia.
