At the eastern end of the shallow Lake Kokonjärvi, which is partly in Kanta-Häme and partly in Pirkanmaa, there are six interconnected wetlands that filter the waters of a catchment area of over 500 hectares into Lake Kokonjärvi. The Finnish Game Management Foundation supported the implementation of three of the wetlands, supplementing the landowners’ non-productive funding granted by centre of economic development. The wetland plans were drawn up by the SOTKA wetlands and the Kokonjärvi Suojeluyhdistys KSY was also actively involved in the project.
