Pehkeensuo in Muhos will have its water raised in a controlled manner to the southern end of the site by peat production, using the banks found in the area. The wetland will receive water from old isolation ditches, allowing water from the forest ditches and peat production areas above to be brought in through the wetland, optimising the water protection effect of the wetland.
The project will be designed by Kosteikkomaailma Tmi and completed by the end of 2026. The project has been largely funded by EU funding from the ELY Centre of North Ostrobothnia.
