Kapustasuo in Kuusamo is a SOTKA wetland site consisting of several smaller wetland ponds. The design of Kapustasuo was completed at the turn of 2024 and the wetland works will be completed during 2026. The Kapustasuo will be implemented to optimise the filtration of water from upstream watercourses and forest ditches by transferring water from the isolation ditches to the wetland basins where possible. The financing of the Kapustasuo implementation is mainly provided by EU funding from the ELY Centre of North Ostrobothnia.
Mechanical works on Kapustasuo started in November 2025 and the target works will continue in spring 2026.
