The white peatland in Siikalatva is a flat, decommissioned peat production area, where the wetter area at the lower end has already become overgrown. The embankments of the Valkianeva dam will be reinforced and water will be raised to cover the entire site, creating a total wetland area of more than 30 hectares.
Kosteikkomaailma Tmi will be responsible for the design of the Valkianeva site and the mechanical engineering will be carried out during 2026.
The implementation and planning of the project has been mainly financed by the North Ostrobothnia ELY Centre with EU funding.
