Isoahontaussuo in Pudasj\u00e4rvi is a former peat production area owned by OP-Mets\u00e4nomistajarahisto and several local individuals.<\/p>\n\n

The area will be restored as part of the Finnish Game Management Foundation’s JTF-funded POPKA project, and TeMePa Infra Oy is responsible for the wetland design. The restoration of the site is mainly funded by the ELY Centre of North Ostrobothnia, and the project is coordinated by the Finnish Game Management Foundation using outsourced services.<\/p>\n\n

Remediation will also reduce carbon emissions from the area as the peat mass remains submerged, while the reservoir will also act as an effective protection for the water bodies below against the solid water loads of meltwater and flooding.<\/p>\n\n
